If I were a boy again, I would practice perseverance(毅力)more often, andnever give up a thing because it was hard or inconvenient. If we want light, wemust conquer darkness. Perseverance can sometimes equal genius in its results.“There are only two creatures,” says a proverb, “who can surmount thepyramids—the eagle and the snail.”
If I were a boy again, I would school myself into a habit of attention; Iwould let nothing come between me and the subject in hand. I would remember thata good skater never tries to skate in two directions at once. The habit ofattention becomes part of our life, if we begin early enough. I often heargrown-up people say “I could not fix my attention on the lecture or book, although I wished to do so” , and the reason is, the habit was not formed inyouth.
If I were to live my life over again, I would pay more attention to thecultivation of the memory. I would strengthen that faculty by every possiblemeans, and on every possible occasion. It takes a little hard work at first toremember things accurately; but memory soon helps itself, and gives very littletrouble. It only needs early cultivation to become a power.
If I were a boy again, I would look on the cheerful side. Life is very muchlike a mirror: if you smile upon it, I smile back upon you; but if you frown andlook doubtful on it, you will get a similar look in return.
Inner sunshine warms not only the heart of the owner, but of all that comein contact with it. “who shuts love out ,in turn shall be shut out fromlove.”
Finally, instead of trying hard to be happy, as if that were the solepurpose of life, I would, if I were a boy again, I would still try harder tomake others happy.

【aids full name acquired immunodeficiency syndrome,is a great harm to the infectious diseases, aids is the disease caused by the hiv virus. hiv virus will unknowingly invade the human body. because the hiv virus in the human body has an incubation period.
so before suffering from aids, people can not have any symptoms of normal life.】
【the reason why people because of fear of aids aids will destroy the human immune system, makethehumanbodyimmunityreduce, which causes many diseases, cause great harm to the human body.】
【aids is spread through four main ways. which consist of mother-baby tran**ission, blood tran**ission and ***ual tran**ission. dailylifecontactisnotinfectedwiththe virus】
【thereis no cure for hiv andaidsyet. however, treatment can control hiv and enable peopletolivealong and healthy life. so we should do a good job of preventive measures.
for example, with a condom in the *** life, preventing the spread of blood…】
5. 【all in all ,aids is a serious infectious disease. we should learn to prevent.
dailylifecontactisnotinfectedwiththe virus, when we face people with aids, we should gather up our courage to help them actively,to embrace them.】

Humor has been a powerful tool in human society for centuries. Its influence can be found in various aspects of our lives, including our daily interactions, entertainment, and even in more serious contexts such as speeches and presentations. In this essay, I would like to explore the power of humor in the English language and discuss how it can make a significant impact on the audience.
To begin with, humor serves as an effective icebreaker in social interactions, especially among strangers. It helps to create a positive and comfortable atmosphere, allowing individuals to connect and build relationships more easily. For example, cracking a joke or sharing a funny story at a networking event can easily bring people together and break down any barriers that may exist. It lightens the mood and sets the tone for a more relaxed and enjoyable conversation.
Moreover, humor has the ability to diffuse tense situations and alleviate stress. Life is filled with challenges and uncertainties, and during difficult times, laughter can be a much-needed relief. By injecting humor into serious discussions, it helps to ease tension and encourage open-mindedness. When people are able to find humor in difficult situations, it allows them to cope better and approach problems with a more positive mindset.
In addition, humor plays a vital role in entertainment and media. Comedy shows, sitcoms, and stand-up performances are highly sought after by audiences around the world. They provide an escape from reality and offer a momentary reprieve from the stresses of everyday life. Humor is a universal language that transcends cultural boundaries, allowing people from different backgrounds to come together and share a collective experience of laughter.
Furthermore, incorporating humor into speeches and presentations can greatly enhance the overall impact and engagement of the audience. It captures their attention and helps them connect with the speaker on a deeper level. A well-timed joke or a humorous anecdote can create a lasting impression and make the content more memorable. It also lightens the tone and prevents the audience from feeling overwhelmed by a heavy or serious topic. By using humor strategically, speakers can effectively convey their message and ensure that it resonates with the listeners.
Nevertheless, it is important to acknowledge the limitations and potential risks of using humor. Different people have different preferences and sensitivities when it comes to comedy. What one person finds amusing, another might find offensive. Therefore, it is crucial to choose humor wisely and ensure that it is appropriate for the given context and audience. Being sensitive to cultural differences, avoiding controversial topics, and maintaining a respectful tone are essential when using humor in English speeches or any other form of communication.
In conclusion, humor possesses great power in the English language. It serves as a social lubricant, diffuses tension, provides entertainment, and enhances communication. However, it is important to use humor judiciously and be mindful of the audience. When wielded effectively, humor can create positive connections, foster resilience, and make a lasting impact on both individuals and society as a whole. So let us embrace the power of humor and bring laughter into our lives.

there are many people who think that wealth is better than health. i used to think so until one day i read a story about howard hughes. he was an american billionaire who got anything he wanted. however, in the last twenty years of his life, his health began to deteriorate and he was miserable. he had the best doctors and nurses. however, he could still find no relief. i realized that health is worth all the money in the world. if you have millions of dollars but your health is poor, you will not be able to do what you want to do. so i would like to say don’t hurt yourself trying to make money. instead take care of your body and be happy with what you do have. health is more important.
which is more important, health or wealth? it is a hot topic among people. i can hardly answer this question. i didn’t realize that health is more imporant until i saw a businessman’s real life.
a successful businessman, one of my father’s friends, devoted himseff to his business. he works from morning to night every day. there is no weekends in his mind. he often says, "i must earn much money so that i can get what i want. "lately, he is ill. though he has a lot of money, he can do nothing but lie in the hospital’s bed.
so i think health is more important than wealth people can do nothing if they are always in poor health, let alone happiness. no matter we are rich or not, we can not ignore the importance of health.

i am happy to be here today,to discuss with you one of the most important issues facing china in the 21st century-the relationship between ecology, touri** and learning. but that relationship has to be seen in a larger context. china has the vision of achieving a well-off society in an all around way.
we know that we can’t follow the strategy used by other countries in the past. at united nations world summit on the world economy,ex premier zhu rongji said economic development and environmental protection are interlinked and can not be separated from each other. he also said, that a new pattern that conserves resources and guarantees a clean environment must replace the traditional pattern.
that new pattern is called sustainable development. it also implies a new life style, which is ecotouri**. to me,it means eco-minded people, engaged in outdoor activities.
it is nothing less than the harmony between people and nature, therefore,we have to make wise decisions as we develop tourist sites. skiing on white, powdery snow makes people feel great, but if building a ski lift destroys the habitat, then we should not do it. lying on the warm sand of a beach with the blazing sun above is relaxing, but if it is a nesting beach for sea turtles, then we should not do it.
analyzing our behaviors in nature,we see the problems poor sanitation, poor transportation, poor ac***modation, and poor translation of useful information! and the clutter and chaos of vendors. that is why ecotouri** is critical.
and that is why we must learn through ecotouri** about how to keep the balance of nature. in my vision of future, people will feel happy to be responsible for the environment. tourist site will be clean, traffic will be orderly, tour guide will be well informed, signs will be accurate, vendors will be respectful.
then the millions of tourists visit china each year, will return to their homes not only with a deep appreciation of china, but also with new respect for the environment as well. let me tell you my personal experience,on the 3rd of october 2000 . i was traveling with a large group of people in inner mongolia.
many people got frustrated. some of them were even quarreling. the atmosphere was be***ing tense.
at our destination we got out of the cars, went to the edge of the lake, and then there was a transformation. the color of the lake was that kind of blue that gently touched your heart. mountains stood silently at the horizon.
suddenly it seemed like the sun blinked, several rays of light came out of the clouds and then the sun sank into the lake. i looked around and saw several guys had tears in their eyes because of that beautiful moment. others gave each each other hugs,f***etting the quarrels they had just had.
i stared at the lake, for the first time in my life ,i found a great peace in nature. the peace that can erase anger and misunderstanding. this experience taught me how the peace in nature has an in fluence over people.
and if people could bring all these wonderful feelings back home. then if could contribution to the harmony in society. i believe it is time to make a fundamental change in our economic development strategy which will be the hallmark of human civilization at this new historical stage.
and ecotouri** is the way to keep the delicate balance between what we have and who we are. thus, ecology improves touri**,and touri** improves learning, and what we learn,is how to achieve the vision of harmony and peace between humanity and nature.

Later, she came into the football team. After many years, she became the captain of the Chinese women’s football is Sun wen.(展示孫雯照片)

change the ingredients of your life
this is a glass of water, tasteless, right? however if you add sugar, it will taste sweet, but if you add vinegar, it will be***e bitter. the same is true with our life the flavor is created by our choices.
so my dear friends, never ***plain that life is boring and the world is disappointing. if don’t like the taste of your life, change the ingredients
as you slowly open your eyes, look around, notice where the light ***es into your room; listen carefully, see if there are new sounds you can recognize; feel with your body and spirit, and see if you can sense the freshness in the air.
yes, it’s a new day, it’s a different day, and it’s a bright day! and most importantly, it is a new beginning for your life, a beginning where you are going to make new desicisions, take new actions, make new friends, and take your life to a totally unprecedented level!
if kindness is added to a strange you will have a friend; but if hostility is added, you will have an enemy. if love is added to a pile of red bricks you will have a home, but if hatred is add to those bricks , you will have an concentration camp.
so my dear friend, if faith, hope, love, endurance are added to your life, you will find the confidence for your life.

how to inspire every child to be a lifelong reader
as an elementary school teacher, my mom did everything she could to ensure i had good reading skills. this usually consisted of weekend reading lessons at our kitchen table while my friends played outside. my reading ability improved, but these forced reading lessons didn't e_actly inspire a love of reading.
high school changed everything. in 10th grade, my regular english class read short stories and did spelling tests. out of sheer boredom, i asked to be switched into another class. the ne_t semester,i joined advanced english.
we read two novels and wrote two book reports that semester. the drastic difference and rigor between these two english classes angered me and spurred questions like, 'where did all these white people come from?'
my high school was over 70 percent black and latino, but this advanced english class had white students everywhere. this personal encounter with institutionalized racism altered my relationship with reading forever. i learned that i couldn't depend on a school, a teacher or curriculum to teach me what i needed to know. and more out of like, rebellion, than being in tell ectual, i decided i would no longer allow other people to dictate when and what i read. and without realizing it, i had stumbled upon a key to helping children read. identity.
instead of fi_ating on skills and moving students from one reading level to another, or forcing struggling readers to memorize lists of unfamiliar words, we should be asking ourselves this question: how can we inspire children to identify as readers?
desean, a brilliant first-grader i taught in the bron_, he helped me understand how identity shapes learning. one day during math, i walk up to desean, and i say, 'desean, you're a great mathematician.' he looks at me and responds, 'i'm not a mathematician, i'm a math genius!'
ok desean, right? reading? completely different story. 'mr. irby, i can't read. i'm never going to learn toread,' he would say. i taught desean to read, but there are count less black boys who remain trapped in illiteracy. according to the us department of education, more than 85 percent of black male fourth graders are not proficientin reading.
85 percent! the more challenges to reading children face, the more culturally competent educators need to be. moonlighting as a stand-up comedianfor the past eight years, i understand the importance of cultural competency, which i define as the ability to translate what you want someone else to knowor be able to do into communication or e_periences that they find relevant andengaging.
before going on stage, i assess an audience. are they white, are they latino? are they old, young, professional, conservative? then i curate and modify my jokes based on what i think would generate the most laughter. whileperforming in a church, i could tell bar jokes. but that might not result inlaughter.
as a society, we're creating reading e_periences for children that are the equivalent of telling bar jokes in achurch. and then we wonder why so many children don't read. educator and philosopher paulo freire believed that teaching and learning should be two-way.students shouldn't be viewed as empty buckets to be filled with facts but as cocreators of knowledge.
cookie-cutter curriculums and school policies that require students to sit statue-still or to work in complete silence -- these environments often e_clude the individual learning needs, theinterest and e_pertise of children. especially black boys.
many of the children's books promoted to black boys focus on serious topics, like slavery, civil rights and biographies.less than two percent of teachers in the united states are black males. and a majority of black boys are raised by single mothers. there are literally young black boys who have never seen a black man reading. or never had a black manencourage him to read. what cultural factors, what social cues are present thatwould lead a young black boy to conclude that reading is even something he should do?
this is why i created barbershop books.it's a literacy non profit that creates child-friendly reading spaces in barbershops. the mission is simple: to help young black boys identify as readers.lots of black boys go to the barber shop once or twice a month.
some see their barbers more than they see their fathers. barbershop books connects reading toa male-centered space and involves black men and boys' early reading e_periences. this identity-based reading program uses a curated list ofchildren's books recommended by black boys. these are the books that they actually want to read.
scholastic's 20__ kids and family report found that the number one thing children look for when choosing a book is abook that will make them laugh. so if we're serious about helping black boysand other children to read when it's not required, we need to incorporate relevant male reading models into early literacy and e_change some of thechildren's books that adults love so much for funny, silly or even gross books, like 'gross greg'.
'you call them boogers. greg callsthem delicious little sugars.'
that laugh, that positive reaction or grossreaction some of you just had, black boys deserve and desperately needmore of that.
dismantling the savage inequalities thatplague american education requires us to create reading e_periences thatinspire all children to say three words: i'm a reader.
thank you.(applause)

my dear friends,
do you know what is the most precious and everlasting thing in the world ?money?you may lose everything you have if you don't use money carefully enough.
youth?in one's long life youth is like a flash in the pan and no one in the world has the secret to keep his youth forever.beautiful look?
many people pray that they can get hold of beauty, but it disappears far more quickly than they can imagine.and when they are in real trouble beauty itself feels helpless.a good job?
as you grow older and your brain and hands can't work as fast as before.it will be***e other people's wealth.
then what is the most precious and everlasting thing in the world?
when you are far away from your family and feel especially lonely, who will you think of?when you stand on the crossroad in your life and don't know which way to choose, who will you think of?when you encounter greater difficulties than ever and need other's encouragement, who will you think of?
when you decide to make the greatest decision in your favorite course, who shed cheerful tears when see you get achievements?whose wholehearted blessing will be always with you no matter how far you will go?
yes,it's mother who you will always think of and it's mother's love that willbe always be with you.
i once heard a moving story about a children were drawn into the flood and the situations was very dangerous.their mother jumped into the water without hesitation.but the mother couldn't swim at all.
jumping into the water means she might lose her life.but at that time she had no time to think about herself.she just wanted to try all means to save her children.
maybe her courage touched the god.the miracle happened.she finally succeeded in saving her both children.
and she,of course,felt extremely exhausted.
my friends, mother's love is the greatest love.mother's love is the safest love.no matter you are happy or depressed ,rich or poor ,mother's love will always stay with you.
“once upon a time, there was a king who had a daughter as beautiful as a blooming rose. to all the suitors who came to the king's palace to ask for the hand of the princess, the old king assigned three tasks to be ac***plished, each next to impossible. one day, into the king's palace came a handsome young prince...
" well, you know the rest. the three tasks may be different in different versions, but the main plot is always the same, with the prince claiming the princess's hand triumphantly.
and the ending is always the same, finishing with the line "and they live happily every after."
why aren't we tired of something so fanciful, so unrealistic, and, i would say, so unimaginative? how can a story like that endure generations of repetition`? because, i think, it is a typical success story.
it is highly philosophical and symbolic. by implication, we see a 4-step definition of success: 1 ) a goal to be set.
as represented by the beautiful princess; 2 ) challenges to be met, as represented by the three tasks; 3 ) the process of surmounting difficulties, as represented by the ordeals the youth goes through; and 4 ) the reward of success, as represented by the happy marriage.
the story not only caters to everyone's inward yearning for success, but also emphasizes the inseparability of the process and the result. the reward of success will be much amplified if the path leading towards it is treacherous, and vice versa. if a person inherits his father's millions and leads an easy life, he is not a successful person even in material terms, because there are no difficulties involved in his achieving affluence.
the term "success", to be sure. will not sit still for easy definition. but as i understand it, the true meaning of success entails a ***bination of both the process and the satisfactory result of an endeavor.
to clarify my view, let me give another analogy.
if we changed the rules of football, greatly enlarged the goal and sent away david seaman or any other goal keeper, so that another david, namely david beckham, could score easily, then scoring would not give him the thrill of ac***plishment and the joy that it brings. if we further changed the rules by not allowing arsenal's defenders to defend, so that beckham needed only to lift a finger, actually a toe, to score, then there would be no game at all, because the meaning of winning would have disappeared. in accepting the challenge, in surmounting the difficulties and in enduring the hardship, success acquires its value.
the sense of attainment varies in proportion to the degree of difficulties on over***es.
the concept of success is not constant but relative because the nature of difficulty is also relative. something you do effortlessly might pose a great difficulty for a handicapped person. in acquiring the ability to do the same as you can, he or she achieve success.
that's why we greatly admire stephen hawking, because, though confined to a wheel chair, he has contributed greatly to the field of science.
i myself, a rather shy person by nature who easily suffer from stage fright, had to pluck up great courage to take part in a speech contest like this. i could have stayed away and had an easy time of it by not entering the university level contest.but i chose to accept the challenge and to face the difficulties.
now here i am. if i ***e out first, it will be a great success for me. if i ***e out last-i hope this will not be the case-but if i ***e out last, i will not call my attempt a failure, but will also celebrate it as a true success, because part of my goal is my own character training-to do more assertive, to be brave in face of difficulties.
for me, it is a meaningful step forward, **all as it is, in the long journey toward the final success in my life, because i have truly gained by participating.

let us return to our handsome young prince and the 4-step definition of success. you my have noticed that the usual worldly criteria of wealth, position and fame were not mentioned as part of the story, but rather, it emphasized the process of over***ing difficulties. the ancient wisdom had already defined the meaning of success, and this is my definition, too.
thank you.

Smile, and sometimes can be a life to retain power.
"To retain the life of laughter," tells the story of a place in the true story of the war years, in the story, a huge smile to show her magic.
War, a number of German soldiers found guilty of a terrible mistake had been closed to general, including one soldier in particular would like to go out alive, but this possibility is too remote. He was informed of his life in the death of the ultimatum had been issued - and three months would be shot, so he does not pin any hope on the survival of the. Two weeks later, he calmed down. He visited every day to face the smiling general, the generals began to ignore him, then, he has a little goodwill, and began to talk to him ... ... three months after the date on the blink of an eye later, shot By the time this is a very strange shot: General cite shot on the left hand, right hand to give back to the team that can be a continuation of the war. His turn, he closed his eyes, waiting for death to come, this time, his generals to see, he slowly raised his right hand ... ...
This is the life-saving force, which is hard to imagine the magic! Every day to a general apology to smile, even from its own bottom line back to the original point of death, this not the great power of a smile?
If we are able to smile in the face of every person and every thing, the success or failure of honor in the face with a smile, a smile in the face of all with a smile of genuine spiritual insights better life, it would be very happy and well-being.
Jan-mouth, will be able to draw a beautiful arc, which is how simple things! However, we do every day to add a smile to my soul? Did not - did not test test, simply Poguanposhuai; job search is unsuccessful, they feel depressed; to buy lottery tickets with the first prize was only a figure on the stomp beat their chests ... ...
Strictly speaking, these trivial little too! But sometimes we do these things to worry all day, affecting many of the stem.
Smile is a force used to be a smile, a smile used to the things people will not be led by the nose, facial expression is not just a smile or a state of mind, it should be a smile from the heart. The story of the soldiers that if only the blunt expression, that the general will be more than just a pleasing.
So smile is a positive state of mind, you have a smile on other people, other people will also answer your smile.
Smile is in the hearts of the Yi Shuguang, the hearts of bright, full of hope.
Smile is embedded in the heart of love, the magic of love.
In the face of your life with a smile! We find that the world is so beautiful.
So many people underestimate the power and importance of a smile, that simple little facial expression characterized by an upward curving of the corners of the mouth.
A smile has many meanings: pleasure, friendliness, welcome, amusement, and many more; and it is part of a universal body language that doesn’t need any extra interpretation.
Plus a smile, with all its simplcity and beauty, can be a very important factor in many aspects of our lives:
You fall in love with a new country you visit because its people greet you with a welcoming smile everywhere you go; other countries you just don’t like even though they might have more history, nature, entertainment and whatnot because their people don’t seem so friendly or accepting.
You feel like buying from a certain store when the vendor welcomes you in with a smile, sometimes even if you wouldn’t intially have bought anything; and in other stores, even though they have exactly what you need or better, you decide to walk away because the vendor doesn’t look welcoming at all.
You want to give a waiter a good tip when he serves you with a smile, even if the food turns out not that good; on the other hand, sometimes you’ll have some of the best food ever, but you won’t feel like giving the waiter a tip, even if you do, because he was grumpy.
More and more examples from our everyday life show how much a simple smile can change everything.
Forever engraved in my mind will be the smiling faces of the people of Thailand, the friendly pizza delivery boy, the welcoming supermarket vendor, the nice cashier at the bank, …etc.
It is these smiles that keep me wanting to go back, and that keep us all wanting to go back; looking at it from another view, if we break it down using business sense, a smile is one of the most effective means to generate sales and develop customer loyalty.
On top of all that, a smile is a very simple and easy thing to do, so it amazes why no one bothers to do it, it not only makes the person in front of you better, but it also makes you feel better as well, and I’m not making this up, it has been psychologically proven.
Personally, I’d like to see more smiling faces in this world; in the airports when I enter a new country, in companies, government agencies, restaurants, hotels, banks, everywhere; and I think it is up to governments to campaign about this, and even make it obligatory in certain important places like airports, hospitals, hotels…etc.
